Sixty-seven percent of information is retained when told through a story.

This is why expert sales consultant and advisor Stephen Steers wants you to share your true experiences to improve your relationships, career, and dating endeavors.

So how do you choose the best ones to tell? Should you be detailed or hold back some information? What are the pros and cons? Stephen Steers shares his advice to get you to where you want to be.

Tune in to this episode: How to Build Deep Relationships with Your Story with Stephen Steers.

Key points covered in this episode:

✔️ Your story should help others tell theirs better. You create stronger bonds when others can relate to your struggles and successes, and it gives them room to open up about their lives, too.

✔️ Go beyond the checklist. Oftentimes, we enter the dating world only with our standards in mind. But have you given your date the space to tell their story? Have you thought about whether you check their boxes too?

✔️ Read the room. Would your traumatic or heavy experience inspire or scare off your listeners? How can you deploy your story in the right context? Would they benefit from this story? Consider these things before starting your, “Once upon a time…”

✔️ There are three types of stories you can tell: the vision, the mission, and the milestones. Then, calibrate your stories to touch the hearts and leave a lasting impact on your audience.

✔️ Build rapport with yourself.  Your life’s ups and downs only have one constant: YOU. Admitting that your current situation isn’t working out is a hard pill to swallow. But once you take that initiative to change your life, you’ll thank yourself.

✔️ Effective storytelling puts you in rooms you aren’t in yet. When people know what you do and what you’re all about, it comes naturally for them to recommend you to others.

Hi, I’m Stephen, They don‘t teach you sales in school. They don‘t teach you how to be confident. They don‘t teach you how to be out in the world and how to make a way for yourself. But that’s what I’m here for. I’ve consulted, advised, and led workshops for more than 500 companies from 25 countries. I’ve learned that effective sales is about listening and connecting through stories. The better you talk, the more money you make and I’m here to show you how.
